Our Gaming Group
Our most active membership currently includes nine (9) individuals.
Here's a brief rundown of who we are, our "favorite" gaming periods,
and how you can find us and (if you like) join us in our adventures.

Members

Alan W. - Alan began war-gaming in the early 1960s, and has
remained a devoted fan of the hobby ever since. He is by far the most
talented craftsmen in our circle of friends, having an amazing talent for
woodworking, painting, terrain construction, etc. Alan favors Ancient
and 18th century engagements, though he's generally open to trying
almost anything once. Alan has been preparing us all for a -big-
Marlburian project in the near future. We hope to see it soon.

Alex B. - That'd be me. You know enough about me already. I'm
probably best known for my love of obscure conflicts and/or
combatants. My collection is extremely odd, but I manage to put on a
good game now and again.

Ben P. - Our favorite Basque began wargaming in the late 1960s. He's
by far the most open minded of our group, playing almost -anything-,
and has an encyclopedic knowledge of obscure rules. Ben has a
fondness for Russian history (and a degree in it), but it's hard to pin
him down to one specific period, as he's got lead for about anything.
Ben runs an excellent painting business on the side (one of these
days we'll have a link up).

Chris M. - Chris is primarily a role-player and board gamer, but he's
also a history geek (like the rest of us) and enjoys watching miniatures
games even if he prefers to play with cardboard counters. He has
been introducing a lot of very good, very playable games on Friday
nights, lately.

Dennis M. - Dennis recently came back into our lives and has been
very active in our gaming of late. Dennis is very knowledgeable about a
variety of topics, but WW2 seems to be his current focus lately. Dennis
is also an avid 19th Century gamer, and has been organizing the KGL
for SHAKO. He has been talking about introducing the group to the
American Battlelines miniatures system lately. Should be interesting.

Jen B. - Alex's wife.  She is quite a talented war-gamer and miniatures
painter, and is particularly fond of Ironclads and anything involving her
beloved WW2 Soviets (two decidedly non-feminine pursuits, as she's
fond of pointing out).

Joe W. - Our resident "18th century guy", Joe has a frightening
knowledge of obscure 18th century military data. He's been furiously
painting Seven Years War armies lately. Joe is known affectionately in
our group as "Dr. Slow".

Kevin C. - Our youngest member is best known for his love of WW2
gaming. He has a large FOW collection, as well as a smaller
assortment of 20MM miniatures for the same conflict. Kevin has been
experimenting with DBA and ancients, in general, for some time now.

Phil H. - Began as a board war-gamer, now joins the dark side in the
miniatures hobby. Phil has painted a lot of miniatures since entering
the hobby in the 1960s, but most recently he has completed a large
number of DBA armies.  He has most recently been updating and
finishing off his DBA collection.

Phil M. - Phil M, interestingly enough, a fencer of some skill. If I'm ever
found face down with an epee in my back, you know who to blame!
He's a military historian and history teacher. He's been working a lot,
lately, with the French Revolution, the French and Indian War, and even
the Franco-Prussian War.

Rich F. - Has been gaming with us for a very long time, and is an old
hand at battlefield machinations and dirty tricks! Rich is perhaps best
known to the group for his extremely large collection of WW2 German
armor in a variety of scales, which Joe has jokingly referred to as "SS
Panzerdivision F."

Roxanne P. - Roxanne has recently been doing a lot more gaming with
our cast of characters, and we now consider her a hardened
vict..er..member. She has extremely eclectic tastes (just like the rest of
us, admittedly), but she's probably best known for Fire and Fury
scenarios and the use of Brother against Brother for Colonial games.

Tim B. - One of our original group, Tim is an old friend of Joe and Ben
and has been gaming with our group since before Jen and I moved to
the area. His interests are particularly focused upon Ancient and
Napoleonic gaming, but he's willing to play just about everything. Tim
is probably one of the best painters in our group, and his knowledge of
military history, particularly subject matter regarding the armies he's
painting, is quite formidable.

Tony M. - Tony is our newest member, having moved here a few
months ago from Indianapolis. He is still trying to decide which type of
miniatures gaming he enjoys best, and has been experimenting with a
lot of historical periods lately. Interestingly enough, Tony is a collector
of Red Army awards, medals, and insignia, and he's also extremely
knowledgeable regarding American Civil War militaria.

Current Activities

SHAKO has resurfaced with the group, which suits us all just fine.
FOW is also another big draw. On a personal level, Jen and I have
been working on painting up armies for Warmaster Ancients. We'll try
to have a review up when the first game or two has been played.

Where to Find Us

We welcome anyone to join us for games. We're always looking for
new friends. You can currently find us gaming Friday and Saturday
evenings at the Game Parlor in Chantilly, Virginia (you can easily look
them up... give them a call, and they'll give you directions; I'd only get
you lost). We can be found on Fridays from about 3pm on and on
Saturdays (most Saturdays, anyway), from about 2pm on.

We are generally at the Game Parlor all Fridays these days, and
Saturdays are becoming increasingly common, once again. Please
feel free to email us or to introduce yourself. You can find our mailing
list at Yahoo Groups. Search for 'The Fairfax Irregulars' at
yahoogroups.com. Send me a note, and I'll be glad to add you to the
discussion group.
