Welcome!
Honved.com is my personal home on the net, a site dedicated to military
history and historical wargaming. After roughly a decade involved in the
hobby, I have discovered that there are plenty of wargaming pages online.
Very few of them, however, are dedicated specifically to the sorts of things
that would be of specific use to
me or to any of the folks I game with.

Historical Wargaming is a wonderful hobby. It encourages critical thinking,
understanding of basic mathematical principles, and a healthy love and
respect for history. Nevertheless, the fact that it is a hobby, participated in
by normal folks like you and I, provides three difficulties for the common
participant.

1. It tends to be hard to break in to, without "knowing the right group".
Groups can, at best, be difficult to find; at worst, they can be elitist, and
close minded. (Something which, to be fair, is just as common in any
other hobby).

2. It tends to be over-saturated with products produced by a variety of well
meaning businesses and more than a handful of shady individuals,
whose activities - being related to a hobby - receive less scrutiny in terms
of professional standards and basic product reviews, than mainstream
items.

3. It tends to generate low income for most companies, and so intensive
research, rules, and datum regarding obscure topics are generally
neglected. Want to game World War Two? No problem. Want to game the
Mexican-American War? That's a bit of a problem...

Honved.com hopes to redress these issues by taking the following steps:

1. By providing information and materials for those who wish to join our
hobby, with everything from painting guides, to scenarios, to complete
rulesets - you'll even find information here about hooking up with gaming
groups, finding gaming conventions, and meeting friendly folks that I, and
other friends, have encountered along the way over the course of our
participation in this hobby.

2. By providing honest reviews of products aimed at the war-gaming
market, and by providing praise and/or caution regarding known retailers
of war-games supplies.

3. By providing resources for those of you who, like me, want a little more
from the wargaming hobby than endless spotting charts and the standard
Normandy recreation of the week.  No worries, I do the mainstream stuff
too, so you'll find that info here, as well.

As with virtually every personal website on the Internet, Honved.com is very
much under construction at all times. Feel free to browse at your leisure,
and to contact me regarding anything that sparks your interest. Admittedly,
being the product of a semi-normal human mind, the information here will
be found by some of you to be flawed; so, feel free to contact me with
constructive criticism, too.

Incidentally, I'm always soliciting articles written by gamers for gamers -
drop me a line, and I'd be more than happy to consider posting your
writings in our
Articles section.

Warmest regards,
